Former Oregon All-American Karly Nowak rejoined the acrobatics and tumbling program as an assistant coach in July of 2023.
In her first season as an assistant coach, Nowak helped guide Oregon to a 4-4 record that included four victories over top-10 opponents. The Ducks qualified for the NCATA Championships as the No. 4 seed and defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor to advance before losing a tight contest against top-ranked Baylor in the semifinals. Against No. 9 Hawai’i Pacific in the regular season, Oregon turned in a season best performance with a score of 276.915, including a perfect 10 in the open pyramid, to earn a road victory. The Ducks’ performances led to a sweep of the NCATA weekly awards with Cami Wilson earning Athlete of the Week, Makena Carrion winning Specialist of the Week and Bella Swarthout claiming Freshman of the Week.
Nowak helped guide the Ducks to four event titles on the final day of the season, winning the open toss, duo tumbling, trio tumbling and quad tumbling events at the national championships. The total was the most by Oregon since 2019. Two members of the UO squad garnered NCATA All-America status as Carrion earned the award for the second time in her career while junior Alexis Giardina was recognized for the first time.
Nowak concluded her career as a student-athlete at Oregon in 2023 after competing with the Ducks for four seasons. A 2023 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) All-American, Nowak helped lead the Ducks to a runner-up finish at the NCATA National Championship as a senior, the best finish for the program since 2019. Nowak competed in each of the Ducks' 26 meets during her career, appearing as a top, base and tumbler.
